It's happened -- the word "Blogosphere", easily the stupidest
buzzword since "Information Superhighway", has begun to be misused
by the mass media, obviously signaling it's soon-to-be demise!
Here was the context: It was on CBS'
early-morning-news-program-for-old-fogies, Sunday
Morning this weekend. The story was about that retarded new retooling
of Bugs Bunny. Whatever. My point -- over some stock footage of a
Internet message board, the v/o announced that "The blogosphere was
buzzing last week over the update to the Loony Tunes characters,
blah blah blah.."
That's right -- the Blogosphere! Everything related to computers
is part of the blogosphere now, didn't you know? Yep. Chat rooms --
blogosphere. Web pages -- in the blogosphere. ATM machines --
blogosphere!
Remember that brief period of time in the late 90's where
everyone in the news couldn't stop talking about "Cyberspace" and
how eventually that word got completely overuseed and burnt out? Now
watch the same thing happen with blogs. Let's cross our
fingers.
